Problem:
Based just outside of Birmingham, Langley Brook Farm is home to a business park where multiple companies are based. The owner, David Barr, contacted Cotterill Contractors because they wanted a concrete floor with external drainage gullies to be installed.
They were finding that the drainage in the existing yard was not working effectively. In extreme conditions, the surface water run off was not getting into the drainage system fast enough and on occasions was managing to ingress into their workshop building, which was based downstream of this.
Solution:
To increase the opportunity for surface water to get into the existing drain, we installed two gullies that connected to the existing drain. We also overlaid the concrete floor in the workshop to improve the working surface, and to lift the FFL by approximately 125mm to reduce the opportunity for surface water ingress.
